Intern - Port Operations

We are currently searching for highly motivated Graduate and Undergraduate student interns to join our dynamic Port Operations department. The selected interns will work on departmental projects as well as participate in professional development and enrichment activities.

DATES

  • Program runs 10 weeks from June 17th - August 23rd. (Please note that end dates could be extended depending on department needs and students availability.)

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate (rising junior or rising senior) or graduate program with a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher (will require transcripts) in a four year accredited College/University.

PROJECT(S)

The Port Operations department is responsible for the operational execution, budgeting, planning, and analysis of all port operations logistical arrangements associated with support of the ships and handling of guests while in port. This includes approximately 600 ports around the world.

The various scopes of the roles within Port Operations include the operational oversight of Pilots, Tugs, Harbor/Dockage or Tender arrangements, Gangways, Lines, Stevedoring, Porterage, Security, Terminal Management, Port Authorities, Port Agency, Government Reporting, Shore power, Shore Tenders, Waste Offloads, Port Shuttles, and other miscellaneous harbor activity as it relates to cruise vessel operations.

The position of Intern, Port Operations would encompass and entail various projects that relate to Port Operations specifically, and to HA Group as a whole. These projects would include, but not be limited to, development of Port Operations Manuals for turnaround ports/most frequent ports-of-call, analysis/development of pier manning plans, assisting a few weekends at Pier 91 on ship days to see the operations first-hand, auditing of port agent contracts, and other tasks as assigned by department management. Strong financial and/or analytical stills are preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with Excel
  • Finance experience preferred

COMPENSATION

Paid hourly; $18.00 an hour for Undergraduate Students and $30.00 an hour for Graduate Students.

MAJORS PREFERRED

  • (May include but not limited to): Open to any major and area of study.
