  • Estimated annual base pay: $92,900 (minimum) - $116,100 (midpoint) - $139,300(maximum)

Are you ready to make your mark? Join Woodward as a Military Marine Application Engineer. You will be part of a team of mechanical, electrical, software, cyber, and systems engineering subject matter experts. Your control system and application expertise will help us develop and upgrade Navy electric plant and propulsion control systems. In doing so, you are part of ensuring global allied Navies are well positioned to help maintain global security. What we do matters!

What You Will Be Doing

  • Derives customer requirements into lower-level detailed engineering requirements.
  • Develops control systems (hardware, software, and HMI) to customer specifications. Understands functionality and interface to Woodward systems and components. Includes setup, software programming and debug.
  • Designs to meet compliance to relevant military standards like MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-167, MIL-S-901E.
  • Creates and updates Bills of Materials, wiring diagrams, drawings, electrical schematics, test plans, training material, creation of O&M manuals for the customer and other deliverables to support the project/team.
  • Attends and possibly leads design reviews both internally and with customers to resolve technical and programming issues. Creates and executes test plans for V&V efforts.
  • Participate in company marketing and sales activities, and industry technical meetings and conferences

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in technical/science required
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in relevant field
  • Solid understanding of NPI, process controllers and/or dedicated control systems
  • Proficient in common control system programming tools. (Function block, ladder logic, GAP, Labview, Matlab, Simulink...)
  • Competent skills of gas turbines and power management control concepts
  • Good understanding of communications protocols like Modbus, EFD, OPC, CAN, etc.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts like managed switches, redundancy architecture schemes, VLANs, protocol converters, etc.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills; ability to drive results across organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrates technical management skills like requirements management, systems engineering practices and engineering process knowledge
  • Experience with software simulation and control system emulator tools like Matlab Simulink, Netsim, nVe or similar
