We empower audiences to Play, Create, Watch, and Connect across our amazing franchises and experiences, including The Sims, Madden NFL, EA SPORTS FC, Apex Legends, and Battlefield. We're a multi-functional group, with world-class expertise in building fandoms, driving interactive storytelling, and positioning our franchises at the center of the broader entertainment ecosystem. Our Ventures organization is looking for an Operations Director. You will report into the GM of Ventures.

Ventures is a specially created group inside the EA Experiences division, driving growth for EA by creating new experiences around and beyond the bounds of our games. These new experiences are rooted in deep interactivity and the enhancement of social connections for our fans, with a relentless focus on three areas;

  1. Build a platform of new and adjacent experiences - focusing first on short-form video, chat and content creation
  2. Connect the platform through social systems within and beyond our games - knowing more about our fans, creating more connections and removing friction in fan journeys
  3. Commercialize the platform - modernizing our direct-to-fan experiences across our owned digital channels

Responsibilities:

  • Support & partner with the GM on operational responsibilities, including daily operations, monthly & quarterly strategic planning, & other key business processes
  • Establish a management operating system that increases visibility, predictability, & decision-making
  • Drive regular reporting & decision-making through dashboards & data that keep a pulse on effectiveness, risk, & the changing landscape
  • Manage overall budget across Ventures group, ensuring LOBs are tracking to estimates for OPEX (inclusive of headcount, contractors and internal costs).
  • Create project plans & other practical systems that help maintain focus, while allowing to pivot
  • Work with Operations leaders across each LOB to ensure requirements are understood from a people, development and operations perspective. Primary artifact to review will be a development plan from LOB Operations leader.
  • Review and assess ongoing risks and opportunities across LOBs, feeding directly into a weekly Risks & Opportunities group meeting.
  • Lead strategic initiatives, and become a go-to partner for planning & problem-solving
  • Support complex negotiations & integrations
  • Interact with executives and major customers
  • Set an agenda and guide implementation through influencing senior level leaders
  • Work to improve processes and programs across teams
  • Build and enhance key internal and external contacts.
  • Support meeting agendas, offsite, town halls, & employee communications
  • Partner with central functions to manage budgets, forecast, & resourcing
  • Cultivate a culture that embodies EA values, yet balances our need to go fast & make tough but informed decisions
  • Support in Ventures-wide programs - e.g., Team Health, Goal Setting, Performance Management and Talent Calibration.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years operations and leadership experience
  • Leadership experience building a new organization, managing a P&L ($50M+ OPEX budget), & finding a path to revenue
  • Operational experience establishing & streamlining management operating systems
  • Skilled in project management fundamentals and processes to cater to projects with different scale, goals and are different stages in the product development lifecycle
  • Change management experience navigating ambiguity, & influencing organizational comfort with change
  • Communications experience supporting senior leaders, and prioritizing multiple (often conflicting) priorities
  • Experience drawing insights & recommendations from unorganized information
  • Gaming and entertainment experience, with an understanding of the complexities of building games



COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the range and benefits for your specific location.

EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.


BASE SALARY RANGES

* California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
$185,300 - $278,800 USD Annually
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
$160,200 - $229,100 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
