Position Summary

The Laboratory Technician I is responsible for executing assigned Laboratory support functions such as media preparation, cleaning and steam sterilization of Laboratory supplies and reusable equipment. May conduct some assigned testing.

**This is an entry-level lab position and does not require an advanced degree.

Schedule: 1st Shift

Monday-Friday

7:00 am-3:30 pm

Duties
  • Primary Responsibilities:

    • Sterile processing of glass tubes

    • Utilize liquid filling machines

      • Aseptic fill of tubes with TSB media

    • Aseptic capping of media tubes (by hand)

    • Prepare and execute microbiology or chemistry tests in a highly regulated FDA, ISO and GMP industrial sterilization environment such as:

      • Disinfection Efficacy

      • Sterility

      • Biological Manufacturing

      • Population Assays

      • Resistance Testing

      • Chemical Indicator Performance Testing

      • Media Manufacturing

    • Read, interpret, and record test results

    • Prepare technical documents using MS Word and Excel

    • Participate in development and review of test methods and Standard Operating Procedures

    • Assist and train Laboratory Technicianstaff

    • Maintain area inventory

Education Degree
  • High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
  1. Ability to work under control in pressure situations and adapt rapidly to change.
  2. Ability to read and interpret rules, schedules, procedures and instructions.
  3. Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
  4. Ability to lift and exert force of up to 25 lbs.
  5. Ability to work well with others
  6. Ability to work in close quarters, with/without other employees
Skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow safety rules and be safety aware at all times
  • Demonstrate the desire to learn, be productive and contribute to the team
  • Demonstrate reliability and dependability
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate knowledge of microbes or chemical assays and equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standard aseptic techniques and/or common laboratory equipment use.

    • Technical document writing
    • Using MS Word and Excel (minimum Intermediate level)
    • Organizing, planning and prioritizing tasks
    • Basic math including fractions, decimals and dilution schemes
    • Training other staff
    • Time management
  • Demonstrate an ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements and work in high pressure situations
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Be attentive to detail

Pay range for this opportunity is$15.99-$22.33.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
